On your own website
You probably already have a good sense of where this fits naturally on your site. A few suggestions, in case they're useful. Want a visual to go with any of them? You'll find mock-up photos here.
Homepage: Depending on how your homepage is set up, choose the one that best suits your style:
- A short text block: "Discover our area using our personal travel map on Carta Volta, filled with our favourite spots and highlights." or "There's so much to discover in the area. That's why we've mapped our favourite spots nearby for you in a personal Carta Volta travel map."
- A longer text block: โDiscover the area the way we do. Our Carta Volta map brings together the restaurants we keep returning to, the quiet corners most visitors miss, and the little details that make this area special to us. Whether you're planning your day over breakfast or deciding where to go next while you're already out exploring, our map is there to guide you, dynamically updated so you always know what's actually open. It's less like using an app, and more like being shown around by us.โ
- An advantages/USP block: If your homepage already lists a few: "Guests get free access to our personal Carta Volta map full of local favourites, hidden gems, handpicked restaurants and activities nearby."
Location or area page: If your site has a dedicated page about the area, this is often the strongest spot, guests are already reading with exactly that in mind: โWe've gathered our favourite places and all the highlights in the area on an easy-to-use Carta Volta map. Expect the restaurants we keep returning to, the quiet corners tourists often miss, and the little things that make this area special to us. That way, even when you're out exploring on your own, our best recommendations are right there with you, so your trip feels less like sightseeing and more like being shown around by us.โ
Footer: Add the Carta Volta logo alongside your booking score and social icons, a small, consistent reminder without needing any extra text. Here is the link to our logo.
On your social media
A quick, visual way to let your followers know you offer a personal map, no separate write-up needed. Use one of the mock-up photos, along with the short text block from earlier, as a caption. Want to make it more engaging? Turn it into a carousel: the mock-up photo first, followed by a few of your favourite spots from the map.
Before arrival: share it
Build excitement by sharing your map before your guests arrive. Guests often start planning before they arrive, so give them the opportunity to already get to know you through your personal recommendations.
Where to find your personal map link
You'll find your personal link and QR code in the Map Builder, under 'Share Map'. There you can access printable assets like a QR code, flyer and a personal link that takes guests straight to your map with free access.
- If your map is available in multiple languages, first switch your map to the guest's preferred language. The 'Share Map' button will switch language too, for example to 'Partager la carte' in French. Then copy that link or QR code and share it with your guests, they'll be taken straight to your map in that language.
- Don't share this direct link publicly, on your website or social media, for example. It's meant to feel like a welcome gift for your guests, with exclusive access.
Integrate your link in your welcome message
Send your map link by WhatsApp or email as part of your welcome message, so they can start browsing early and arrive already looking forward to exploring.
- Send via WhatsApp: โWe wanted to share something with you before you arrive: our own Carta Volta map, filled with the places we genuinely love nearby, [link]. A little taste of what's waiting for you here.โ
- Send via Mail: โBefore you arrive, we wanted to share something with you: our own Carta Volta map, filled with the places we genuinely love nearby. Expect the restaurants we keep returning to, the quiet corners tourists often miss, and the little things that make this area special to us. We hope it helps you fall in love with the area just like we did. [link]โ
At check-in: show it
Give them a demo and show your map to your guests. Instead of explaining the area yourself, open the map and walk your guests through it: pins, categories, how to use it. Seeing it in action, rather than just hearing about it, makes it more likely they'll use it throughout their stay.
Worth mentioning when talking about your map
Let your guests know you made this for them. It's a way for you to still be their guide when they're out exploring, transformed into a handy travel assistant. A few other things worth mentioning as you introduce it:
- Always up to date. Your map shows what's actually open right now, guests can turn this off if they're planning ahead.
- Travelling together. One person unlocks the map, then adds their travel companions, so the group only needs to scan once.
- A map that feels like their own. Guests can also add a few personal spots, visible only to them and their travel companions.
During their stay: repeat it
Let the map guide your guests. Place your QR code wherever guests naturally look: at reception, in the welcome folder, in the rooms, at breakfast. That way, they're reminded to use it and can explore the map in their own time, whenever suits them.
Whenever a guest asks about something to do or see nearby, point them to the map first. If it's not on there yet, let them know you'll add it. It's more efficient for you and for them, all your recommendations stay in one place, and your map keeps growing based on what guests are actually curious about.
Found another way of introducing your map that guests really respond to? Or a nice story about how it's been used during a stay? We'd love to hear it!
